Black Crappie
Crappie stack tight in the day-use cover here, and the numbers back it: the single located report landed ten of them off the shore platforms near the beach — the highest count of any species that day. Better still, they don't quit at freeze-up. Black crappie is one of three species GRCA runs its supervised ice fishery for, so this fish carries the shoulder season.

Cover is the whole story. The docks and shoreline fishing platforms near the beach and boat-rental area are where crappie hold, and the one detailed angler report pulled ten from that shore water on small jigs.
Spring pulls them into shallow cover to spawn — the regional southern-Ontario pattern, mid-to-late spring — which lines up neatly with the shore-accessible docks and marked fishing nodes on the park map. Season stays open all year, so there's no closed window to work around.
Then winter flips crappie into an official GRCA through-the-ice target, spread reservoir-wide once there's safe ice. No depth data exists for this water, so the play is cover, not contour: work the wood, docks, and shoreline structure you can see and reach.
